Cheetah Handbag

Someone told me that once you make one handbag, you become addicted and you can't stop. I'm beginning to believe it!

I decided to try making a bag out of microsuede. It feels so soft and looks like leather. It's a little harder to sew, but it wasn't too bad. The animal print has a subtle metallic gold running through it. And the black part is shiny. I like the way it turned out.

Except the bag is a little too small for all the stuff that I carry. This seems to be a problem of mine. I guess I need to try carrying less stuff. But its like throwing things away. Every time I get into a cleaning fit and toss things, I want them later! So, I try to carry less in my bag, but....

Matt said this bag looks like something I could have bought in a store. I think he meant it as a compliment, but I want the bags I make to be more special than something I could buy at Target. Maybe if I add rhinestones or something.

Well, I'm already cutting out another purse. Help...I'm addicted!

Your bag looks great. The colors and textures work well together and it's sewn together beautifully. I'm pretty confident that Matt said what he did because the bag was so well constructed and the colors worked beautifully together. When people think homemade garments and handbags the first thought isn't usually "high quality". Their first thought is things that look like they're suffering from "Happy Hands at Home" syndrome. So if someone tells you it looks like you bought it at a store, I would take that as a compliment. I always find it funny when people tell me my home-sewn garment looks like I bought it at the store because if I had bought it at the store the fit would be terrible. However, they mean that it's sewn great so I'm thrilled with hearing the compliment.
